Medical Room
At Street Cat Rescue’s Cat Ranch, we have a designated place to care for the sick, injured, or recovering cats that we either rescue from the streets or for the ones that reside at the Cat Ranch, in need of medical care. This “Medical Room” has cages donated by a veterinarian, that were altered to allow for a bigger 4′ x 2′ space — with bed/food bowls on one side and litter box on the other.
Some cats reside in this area — ones that are special needs or hard to medicate and, therefore, do better in a more controlled environment. For that reason, we give them ample space for their enjoyment including a huge catio that they can access, through a cat door.
This is also where we keep the washer and dryer, along with storage for bedding, food, medical supplies, and more. When our local veterinarian makes her periodic visits, this room provides a good space for treating and assessing the cats. We keep it softly lit at night with soothing music playing which offers a low-stress environment. It is also attached to the main house for frequent check-ins.
