Main Cat Area

The biggest part of the Cat Ranch houses the majority of the cats in our care. The Founder of Street Cat Rescue, Donna Powell, opened her property to give these cats a special place to live.  Whether they are here for the short term, or for life, they have all the comforts a cat could want plus many “bonus” features, that make it a Kitty Disneyland if you will….simply put,  a Cat’s Paradise.

As the Cat Ranch is on private property, it is not a public facility open to the general public.  However, we do hold fundraisers for our supporters to attend, and we encourage them to bring new people out.  Screened adopters and  Volunteers are invited out as well.  The entire property sits on one acre and the back of the property is all cat fenced-in for added protection, with a huge enclosed area, all along the parameter.  It includes:

  • The Enchanted Forest including an English Cottage, Water Wheel, a mini river with Bridge, a tree house and more completely netted in on top with a freestanding Cat Fenced area.
  • A retired Pigeon house (owner used to raise pigeons!) with a long wired enclosure with a long tunnel that connects to the Cat Habitat area (main cat house that sleeps many).
  • This Cat house has two attached Catios with one feeding into the Enchanted Forest Area, a kitchen (new remodel in the works)  and all areas are visible to each other.
  • The grounds have cat friendly plants to nibble on and there are all kinds of “zen” touches with water fountains and windchimes.

So all cats in the Main Cat Area have a very large shared space with room to run, climb a few trees, play in the river, and just “be a cat”.  This also allows for the feral cats, semi-feral cats and adoptable to all cohabitate nicely.  What we have learned is that it has really helped the skitty and feral cats come around by watching volunteers interact with the friendly cats,  and most are now pettable.  This is also very helpful when it comes to flea medicine time or other care. And of course, gives them a chance at being adopted.

In addition to the Main Cat Area, the Cat  Ranch includes a Medical Room and attached catio and a special place for Leukemia positive cats (FeLV+)  called Newman’s Landing (highlight and link these two to their pages)
