So You Want To Adopt Your New Best Friend

Street Cat Rescue will consider adoptive families in the Round Rock and surrounding areas only. This is simply due to logistics and distance of travel for our volunteers. Our goal is to make the best rescue match taking into consideration the Cat’s background and your family’s needs. Every Cat is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs, and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a furever-home match. We are very careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right Cat with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the pet’s permanent home.

We also offer a unique program called “Volunteer to Adopt”. We oftentimes have cats in our care for a long time before they are ready to be adopted or they find their furever-person. This sometimes makes it more stressful than, to be just going straight to a new home without knowing their person. Cats do not present themselves well at adoption events and it is very hard to get a feel for their personality, so we do not do many offsite adoption events. When you offer to sign up for this program, you will have interaction with not just the one cat you seemed interested in on our website, but the many cats in our care! We get to know you as an adopter and the cats get an opportunity to pick out their special person and a bond is formed before the next step of going to their forever home.

They say cats pick their person. This is a great opportunity for that to happen! We are always in great need of volunteers at the Cat Ranch, so it is a win-win for the rescue, the cats, and YOU. Our joke is “come and volunteer for 30 days and you get a free t-shirt and a cat”. Anyone who signs up for this program has their adoption fee waived. Otherwise, our adoption fees range from $50 – $150.

Our Adoption Process

Apply

We appreciate your wanting to bring a cat into your home. In order for us to find the right pet for you, we need you to submit an adoption application.

Review

We will review your application upon receipt. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity.

Home Visit

Once your application review is complete, a Street Cat Rescue volunteer will contact you to schedule a home visit to meet in person and discuss all things pet. During the home visit, we look for potential hazards for the cat that the adopter may not have considered. All household members must be present during the home visit. This includes all current pets.

Choosing a Cat

Once approved to adopt, the search for your cat begins. Volunteers will begin to evaluate pets currently in our foster care program who may be a good fit for you and your family. We would also be open to discussing cats in our care that you are specifically interested in.

Additional Information

We will not discuss adoption details regarding any particular Cat if you have not yet applied to adopt.
Street Cat Rescue is a 100% volunteer, non-profit organization. We will make every effort to schedule your home visit in a timely manner. Please be patient with us…the Cats need our time too.
All Cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all shots prior to adoption
Adoption fees range from $50 to $150, based on the age and health of each individual animal.
